Passenger Facilitation

Global passenger traffic is expected to increase by around 5% annually and will reach 3.8 billion by 2020. These figures underline the challenge facing passengers, the industry and governments.

The Passenger Facilitation Program focuses primarily on the crucial areas of passenger process with the aim to provide an “end-to-end passenger experience that is secure, seamless and efficient”.

IATA's Passenger Facilitation Program is addressing solutions in the following areas:Simplifying the Business

  • Passenger's identity: reduce repetitive identity checks and create a seamless flow through the reuse of a token based on biometric data.
  • Immigration: improve border crossing through the promotion of automated border control in order to support passenger growth and reduce waiting times without compromising security.
