  • The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has decided to assume authority for matching of passenger names against US Government watch lists
  • Industry welcomes this initiative; however,
  • Evidence collected to date suggests that there are too many data transmissions to the US Government associated with sending passengers name to the Secure Flight passenger computer system
  • Combined with the broad spectrum of passenger data submissions required by the many programs operated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) such as the Advance Passenger Information Quick Query (AQQ) or the Electronic Systme for Travel Authorization (ESTA), these create and unecessary burden on airlines

    • DHS is smiply asking for too much information too frequently on airline passengers
    • IATA is seeking a DHS review of passenger information programs in order to eliminate duplication adn make the process more effecient

    • IATA has formally asked DHS Secretary Napolitano to create a top down review of passnger data programs; awaiting a response
