Gevo Inc.

Region North America
Description Gevo is a leading renewable chemicals and next-generation biofuels company. Gevo’s patent-protected, capital-light business model converts existing ethanol plants into bio-refineries to make isobutanol. This versatile chemical can be directly integrated into existing chemical and fuel products to deliver environmental and economic benefits. It can also be processed into jet fuel. Gevo’s renewable isobutanol can be converted to jet fuel using chemical synthesis already deployed in the refining industry. Gevo has been operating a facility at South Hampton Resources, Inc., since December 2011 in Silsbee, Texas, near Houston, to produce Alcohol-to-Jet (ATJ) fuel. This demonstration plant converts between 8,000 to 10,000 gallons of Gevo’s isobutanol per month into ATJ for engine testing for product qualification and evaluation. Gevo also heads up a task force at ASTM D02.J to work with airframe manufacturers, engine OEMs, government agencies, and other people in the jet supply to establish the specification for ATJ fuel. Gevo is committed to a sustainable bio-based economy that meets society’s needs for plentiful food and clean air and water. For more information, visit www.gevo.com .
