Vasudevan Thulasidas
Chairman and Managing Director, Air-India
Mr V. Thulasidas is Chairman and Managing Director of Air-India. Prior to assuming charge in Air-India on December 22, 2003, Mr Thulasidas was Chief Secretary of Tripura State. Born on March 25, 1948 in Alleppey District of Kerala, Mr V. Thulasidas completed his education in his home State. He took his M.A. Degree in English language and Literature from the University Institute of English in Thiruvananthapuram in 1970. He taught briefly in a college in Kerala and also enrolled himself for Ph.D. in the University of Kerala. Before completing his Ph.D., he was selected for the Indian Administrative Service which he joined in 1972. Mr Thulasidas was allotted to Manipur-Tripura cadre.
He has worked in various capacities in Tripura, in Government of India and in Government of Kerala.
He has, since assuming charge in Air-India, given India's national carrier a new thrust. Besides undertaking steps to upgrade the product in its totality, he has also been instrumental in ensuring rapid growth for Air-India. He has set a target to position Air-India as one of the top five airlines in Asia in the first phase and subsequently to strive for a similar ranking at the international level.
Mr Thulasidas is married and has two children.
