Dan Michaels is a staff reporter of The Wall Street Journal, based in Paris, covering the global airline, aviation and aerospace industries, with a particular focus on Europe. He has been covering these industries since 1999.

From 1993 to 1999, Dan covered Central & Eastern Europe for the Journal, based in Warsaw, focusing on business, politics and society. Dan initially went to Poland in 1991 to work as a management consultant in privatization; he also worked briefly on privatization in Russia.

Before moving to Poland, Dan was a management consultant with Booz, Allen & Hamilton in New York City for two years, working across a range of industries.

Dan is a native of New York and graduated from Princeton University, where he studied China and East Asia. He speaks French, Polish and Mandarin Chinese.
