Raymond Cron

Director General, Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation

Mr Cron was elected by the Swiss Government as Director General of the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) in December 2003.

FOCA is the Civil Aviation Authority of Switzerland, responsible for aviation strategy and policy as well as for the oversight of all civil aviation activities in Switzerland.

Mr. Cron started his career as a design engineer in Zurich and Lausanne. From 1989, he held top management positions in major construction companies in Switzerland. From 1996, Raymond Cron held a position as Managing Director and Member of the Executive Board in a key Swiss construction company. During this time he also served as a Board Member in various national professional organisations.

From 1993 to 1998, Raymond Cron was a member of the regional Parliament of the Canton of Basel-Stadt.

He graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich in 1983 as a civil engineer and then went on to complete post-graduate studies in business management.

At the European level, Mr Cron holds the position of Vice-President of ECAC and EUROCONTROL.
