Captain David Savy is currently the Executive Chairman of Air Seychelles.
He has served as Chairman and Chief Executive of the national airline since February 1997 which makes him one of the longest serving Chief Executives in the airline industry.
Captain Savy commenced his aviation studies in India and furthered his aviation experience in the U.S.A. and U.K. He acquired further management training skills at the Seychelles Institute of Management, Seychelles Defence Forces, International Ocean Institute, Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada.
Captain Savy launched his professional career as a pilot soon after having completed his studies and has undertaken both civilian and military posts. Civil posts included Line Captain, General Manager Flight Operations, Director Of Operations, Chief Pilot, Trainer and Examiner with Air Seychelles. On the military side, Captain Savy has served in several posts in the Seychelles People Defence Forces (SPDF). This varied from Commanding Officer of the Seychelles Airwing, the Airport Security Unit, Deputy Chief of Staff of the SPDF, Member of the Defence Forces Council and Member of the Board of Governors of the Seychelles Defence Academy. He also holds the title of Lieutenant Colonel.
In 2004, Captain Savy was singled out and recognized for his contribution towards the aviation industry within the region and awarded the African Aviation Achievement Award for Outstanding Services to the African Aviation Industry. In 2006, the Vice President Joseph Belmont presented him with a leadership award for his outstanding contribution to the national airline. He was also the recipient of ‘The Annual Business Excellence Award for 2007’ from The Lions Club of the Seychelles. In December 2007 the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) presented Capt Savy the Individual Achievement Award in recognition of his outstanding performance and exemplary leadership to the Aviation Industry.
He sits on a number of Governmental boards, which includes the Seychelles National Economic Council, the Seychelles Tourism Board and the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority. He is also a board member of a number of local and overseas businesses. He has special interests in Environmental Management and was part of a senior steering committee that prior to the new millennium helped formulate the ‘Enviromental Management Plan ‘ of Seychelles 2000-2010 whose main objective was Managing for Sustainability.
