Panel: Infrastructure: an expensive ticket to growth

ARC

Diio

Air transport is forecast to almost triple in size over the next twenty years, with its center of gravity shifting East and South. To accommodate this future growth, large long-term infrastructure projects have to be conceived and developed today. While public funding in developed economies has become more limited due to increasing budget constraints, access to capital markets has also become more difficult in the wake of the global financial crisis.

The goal of the panel was to review the scale of the infrastructure challenge ahead and explore innovative ways of financing future infrastructure needs, ensuring its cost-effectiveness, and paying for it.
