The IATA Guidance Material on Aviation Turbine Fuels defines the appropriate characteristics of three grades of aviation turbine fuels: Jet A-1, Jet A, TS-1. It provides the basis for a purchasing specification and a means of assessing the acceptability of a fuel specification offered by a supplier.

Besides defining composition, physical and chemical properties, it also addresses the issues of additives as well as cleanliness and handling of the fuels.
