2010 Safety Report

The IATA Safety Report 2010 is now available. This report notes that global safety performance in the commercial air transport industry was at its best level ever recorded (rate of 0.61 measured in Western-built jet aircraft hull losses per million flights) and IATA members exceeded the industry by 59% with a rate of 0.25.

Runway Excursion Toolkit 

IATA has released the second edition of the IATA Runway Excursion Risk Reduction (RERR) toolkit, with expanded guidance material for operators, airports, and Air Navigation Service Providers. 

Since the release of the first toolkit last year, IATA member carriers have reduced their rate of runway excursions by 43% and continuing improvements are noted in 2011.

IATA will continue to work on further reducing runway accidents and a new series of regional runway safety symposiums will be launched in the fall of this year.
