The IATA Training and Qualification Initiative (ITQI) was presented at the conference with a focus on the benefits to be gained by improvements in training. The message was to improve current training by making it more relevant to today’s requirements and includes multi-crew pilot licensing and evidence-based training.  The potential benefits will be significant gains achieved in raising the standards of safety. 

Inputs from the assembled audience indicated a need for the ITQI initiative to engage in a form of ‘outreach’ program that would engage the youth of today, the aviation professionals of tomorrow and then to accurately identify and train these individuals using the revised training practices and best lessons learned from ITQI.
