One of the regional panels focused on Performance Based Navigation (PBN). PBN is now a critical component for global airline operations. The panel provided airlines and civil aviation authorities with answers to the main challenges for developing, implementing and obtaining operational approval for PBN (Area Navigation/ Required Navigation Performance).
 
As a result of the discussion, agreement was reached that for PBN to be effectively implemented and used by industry there needs (1) alignment with industry on clear goals and deliverable; (2) accelerate State/ ANSPs commitment and education; (3) Industry needs to speak with one voice and convey clearly their operational needs and (4) begin evaluating a pragmatic approach to airspace mandates in certain areas.
