Next Steps for Checkpoint of the Future
The Checkpoint of the Future Advisory Group held its inaugural meeting on 29 February 2012. The Advisory Group (AG) is comprised of leaders from airlines, manufacturers, regulators, and key international stakeholders including, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association, Smiths Detection on behalf of manufacturers, European Civil Aviation Conference, Transport Canada, the European Commission, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and INTERPOL. Over the coming years, this group will meet regularly to drive the necessary paradigm shift in aviation security.

The AG will lead stakeholder input on the Checkpoint of the Future concept to shepherd a viable solution for the future of passenger screening and to facilitate an open dialogue between industry, regulators, and manufacturers. As the aviation industry continues to grow and evolve so must the security regime employed to protect passengers and the global public. The AG will drive the vision by which various expert groups produce the short and long-term solutions that will reshape aviation security into a proactive, efficient, and effective process. By including both industry and regulators, the AG will develop a road map for implementation that can become a reality.
