Upcoming EMD workshops
As the transition to electronic miscellaneous document (EMD) is progressing rapidly, the elimination of virtual multi-purpose document (vMPD) can no longer be overlooked. Since the global extension of the vMPD is only a few months away, the sense of urgency will require all relevant stakeholders to work in greater collaboration. As of February 2014, 132 airlines have implemented the IATA EMD standard and 65 of those airlines are EMD live in 82 IATA BSP (via travel agent).
In February the e-Services team had organized a successful EMD Taskforce in Geneva. During this conference over 100 industry colleagues joined together to discuss the next step as to how to fully benefit from the EMD standard.
However, not all interested airlines were able to participate. In order to give additional opportunities to our members from North America, Latin America, and Asia and to provide a place for further dialogue with the IT Providers & GDS, the e-Services team plans to set up two regional workshops to cover specifically EMD implementation and vMPD sunset.
