American Airlines launches self-tagging at Austin International Airport

Here you write the program nameCongratulations go to American Airlines for launching self-tagging at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport this month. The service is offered at nine kiosks for all American Airlines domestic and international flights out of Austin.

“This is a major milestone for the Fast Travel Program. Self-tagging was not allowed in the US. The pilots paved the way for acceptance and are the result of a one-year long collaborative effort by IATA, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the Air Transport Association (ATA) and Airports Council International (ACI)”, said Stephan Copart, Fast Travel Program Manager.

American Airlines in Austin, along with Alaska Airlines in Redmond and Air Canada in Boston, are participating in phase one of a pilot plan IATA and TSA agreed on. The pilot plan is based on the Bags Ready to Go Recommended Practice RP 1701F developed by the Fast Travel Working Group. Phase two of pilots involving more US carriers and US airports is planned to start in a few months time after having evaluated phase one implementations.
