New tools used at the 6th World Cargo Symposium

World Cargo Symposium is a unique air cargo event that enables the industry to evolve from talk to action, setting the direction and delivering on commitments previously made.

As per the past editions, this year’s event featured plenary sessions and specialized tracks on current key air cargo priorities through presentations, panel discussions and debates.

This year, the World Cargo Symposium presented new redesigned content which proved to be popular among the delegates as well as making the conference a progressive and forward looking air cargo industry event: plenary sessions on Security and e-Cargo, virtual tracks, IATA Experts’ Corner and more interactive sessions.

The virtual tracks

The virtual tracks concept was introduced for the first time at the symposium and received a substantial number of compliments from the participants who actively embraced an opportunity to follow such topics as Air Mail, Time & Temperature, Security, ULD and e-Cargo through a regulatory, operational, technology and innovation perspective.

IATA Experts' Corner

WCS also featured the first ever IATA Experts’ Corner, where delegates had a chance to receive information directly from IATA cargo experts in such areas as Cargo IMP and XML, Message Improvement Program, e-freight Matchmaker, CASSLink, EasyDGR, CargoIS.

Interactive voting and emailing sessions

During the plenary sessions held on the first day of the event,, delegates were able to interact and influence the discussions using a voting system and a live mailbox.

Voting keypads distributed to each delegate were used to gather and immediately showcase the information on the composition of the delegates and their specific views on biggest issues facing air cargo industry today. To complete the interactive experience and make the World Cargo Symposium unique, IATA provided for the first time a wcslive e-mailbox where delegates could send their questions and comments instantly to the moderator, Aaron Heslehurst from BBC WorldNews.

After the event, IATA analyzed the answers provided by the audience during those interactive sessions – see the final report (pdf).
