General

What is the IATA/IATAN ID Card?

The IATA/IATAN ID Card is first and foremost a professional credential that identifies the cardholder as a bona fide Travel Professional.

The IATA/IATAN ID Card adds dynamic value to the IATA Accreditation and TIDS programs, as travel & tourism suppliers worldwide recognize the card and rely on it to assist in the management, distribution and control of their industry concessions.

Why the IATA/IATAN ID card?

The IATA/IATAN ID Card is the preferred means of recognition of travel professionals by the Industry. It offers Global Benefits, can be safely and efficiently verified by suppliers, and is your passport to AgentExperience. Always carry your IATA/IATAN ID Card, and show your professionalism with pride.

Who is eligible?

Bona Fide Travel Professionals, devoting a minimum of 20 hours per week to the promotion and sale of Travel. Must be paid by salary and/or on a commission basis, and must show on the appropriate disbursement records of the Agency. Please, refer to Eligibility for more details.

Application and Validity

How do I apply for an IATA/IATAN ID Card?

Forms for each part of the world are available on our website. Detailed instructions can be found on the forms themselves, in the Application Forms section.

I have a hard copy of the application form for the IATA/IATAN ID Card. Can I make photo copies of the form for use by other agents?

Yes, photocopies of the Application Form are acceptable. Please make sure the form you are using is the latest available in the Application Forms section. All applications sent on the wrong form will have to be returned to the agency.

When will I receive my ID Card?

Your ID Card will take approximately 4 weeks to process.

If you need your ID Card before then or you have not received your ID Card, please contact your Regional Office for assistance.

I have received my IATA/IATAN ID Card, but it is being shown as invalid in CheckACode

CheckACode is a web based validation system used for IATA numeric codes and IATA/IATAN ID Cards. Once you receive your ID Card, allow up to 10 business days for activation in this system. Visit www.checkacode.com to verify the status of your card.

Renewal and Reissue

I have an IATA/IATAN ID Card that is due to expire in a couple of months. When should I send my renewal notice so I am sure to receive my renewed ID card before my current one expires?

Renewal notices are sent to IATA ID cardholders 2 months prior to the expiry date. Because of the time required to process a renewal and return the new card to the cardholder, the cardholder is encouraged to send back their completed renewal form as soon as it is received.

How do I reissue my ID card?

In case of loss or theft travel agents can have their card reissued to receive a new card with the same expiry date as the original card. Please note that a reduced cost of USD 20 (IATA)/USD 30 (TIDS) will incur.
Alternatively, the agent can choose to apply for an “early renewal”, if the remaining validity of the card has been less than 2 months. If a travel agent has changed the employer/location a new application is required due to the confirmation of potentially changed duties, position etc.
Please  contact your IATA ID Card Regional Office for more information
