Testing the sending of Supporting Documents
In the SIS Sign Up and Certification Guide section 5.2 Scope; it states that "The scope of testing includes only IS-DEC and/or IS-XML files. Testing of other interface files (for e.g. Batch Supporting documents zip file, Usage Files) are not supported by the Sandbox environment. These files can be directly submitted to IS Production Server".
We plan to send a supporting doc with a XML file. If I read the scope correctly, it is not possible to send a supporting doc to the Sandbox, is this correct? If so, I am supposed to send the supporting doc to the prod server and the test XML file to the Sandbox. Please clarify.
Thanks

Hi Lee, Yes – that’s correct. Testing of supporting documents is not supported in Sandbox and therefore you can send the Supporting Docs directly in the SIS live environment, where the file will be validated for file format (as per ISPG v3.2, Section 9.4/File Types) . You can, of course, test the XML files in Sandbox. Hi Ashley
can we send a "test" supporting documents file into the SIS live environment, without any associated invoice data (IS-IDEC/IS-XML) to confirm the file format? Will the supporting documents with no associated invoice data eventually drop off?

Will the automatic linking between the invoice XML file and the supporting doc be validated?

Hi Lee and Konda,
Supporting documents files can only be submitted in the SIS Live environment only with production IS-format files.
During production there will be automatic linking between the invoice XML file and the supporting docs provided the carrier submits these files in the correct format using either the “Folder Based Approach” or the “Index file based Approach”. Please refer to the ISPG v3.2, Section 9.5/Linking of Supporting Documents for details on these approaches.
Best regards,

I am still confused about testing the sending of supporting documents during our testing phase. In the Oct 5, 2011 3:37 response you state that "...you can send the Supporting Docs directly to the SIS live environment, where the file will be validated for file format". However, in the Oct 6, 2011 4:00 Reply in this thread, you said "Supporting doc files can only be submitted in the SIS Live environment only with production IS-format files". So-
1) Does this mean that during testing supporting docs can be sent to the IS Production live environment, to allow file format validation?
2) The linking of supporting docs to the appropriate XML file (in our case) will not be made until we field the customer invoice into production - I think this is true. True?
3) If #2 is true, then there is no way to verify that we setup the supporting doc and associated XML file linking mechanism properly until we go live; true?
Thanks, Lee

Hi Lee, Please find the answers to your questions as follows: 1. No – you should not send supporting docs to the SIS live environment just for file format validation. Any supporting docs sent to the SIS live environment should be for the real invoices submitted. 2. Yes – Linking of supporting docs will only be made when you submit them along with invoices in production. 3. So given (2), you will be able to see the linking errors/mismatch of supporting documents in your production files. These will also be shown in the validation report. Hope that clarifies.
