Non-ICH member & SIS

Is there a necessity to be an ICH member in order to join SIS or is it possible to join SIS as a non-ICH member and settle directly with the billing/billed airline?
Is 3rd party billing via SIS possible, meaning our airline would enter or transmit the billing information to the billed airline in SIS on behalf of another carrier?
Thanks and regards,
Alexander Proschka

Hi Alexander,

An airline can join SIS without being a member of any clearing house, and can do bilateral settlements.

Third party billing, however, is not allowed, but IATA Member airlines are allowed to sponsor other airlines and non-airline subsidiaries for ICH settlements. This means that the sponsored airlines generate their own invoices, but the settlements are included in the sponsoring member’s settlements, and it is up to the two entities to sort out the financial arrangements between them.

Hope this clarifies.

Best regards
