Locations (Mbr Profile)

Hi,
You say 'Locations' should be used for 'Business Units'.
Does this mean that only if a 'Business Unit' (e.g. Ground Handling or Catering) is a Legan Entity of its own a separate Location for that 'Business Unit' should be created?

As many airlines may have may have all kind of business within one/mother company such airlines will have only the Main Location?

Locations should not be used for departments like 'Passenger Revenue Accounting', 'Cargo Revenue Accounting', 'Misc Payables' etc when they are within the same Legal Entity??

If I need to add a Location, will this always have a numeric key, e.g. '1', automatically assigned by IS Web, OR can I give he Location another key/name?  If yes - how?

Do I need to contact SIS Operations if I need to delete a Location? Also if it has no User assigned?

Hi Erik,

Please find the answers (in blue) to your questions as follows:

You say 'Locations' should be used for 'Business Units'.

You can create location ID for the following reasons:

-          Legal, as you have different legal entities,

-          Geographical, as you may have offices located at different addresses

-          Convenience, if you want to identify for workflow reason different streams of information.

As many airlines may have all kind of business within one/mother company such airlines will have only the Main Location?

There can only be one main location, but you can create location ID for all different business.

Locations should not be used for departments like 'Passenger Revenue Accounting', 'Cargo Revenue Accounting', 'Misc Payables' etc when they are within the same Legal Entity??

This is up to you – we do not see a need as outputs flow of information are differentiated by name already.

If I need to add a Location, will this always have a numeric key, e.g. '1', automatically assigned by IS Web, OR can I give he Location another key/name?  If yes - how?

When you create a location, SIS automatically assigns it a numeric key. So it will be  numerically sequential (i.e. 1 2 3… ), with the exception of UATP, where you have to choose the option to create an UATP location. Only the Main and UATP locations will have clear names, other locations are identified by their numeric key.

Do I need to contact SIS Operations if I need to delete a Location? Also if it has no User assigned?

No – however, if you choose to delete location(s), this information should be communicated to your partners. For your information, all transactions will be routed to the  Main location by default, unless you or your partner specify the location ID.

Hope this clarifies.

Kind regards,

Ashley
