Access to the Sandbox

Dear collegues,

We have been advised by IATA that the airlines would only have the access to the Sandbox by mid-august 2011. This will leave too little time for the testing and certification, if we take into account the facts that the migration is scheduled for Sept clearance and that many airlines will try to get the certification at the same time.

Originally, the Sandbox was supposed to be open in June, which would give enough time to everybody. Does IATA consider shifting the implementation date, provided that some project milestones have been shifted as well?

best regards

Dear Alexei,

The Sandbox and Certification process is automated and having no impact from the number of carriers trying to perform Sandbox Testing or Certification at any given point in time.

In the mean time, we expect that airlines invest the time in doing internal testing to make sure that the internal changes they are making in their systems are correct. The Sandbox is there just to validate the last mile, i.e. that their outputs correspond to the SIS platform. Additionally, from now until June we would be publishing various kinds of sample files to help with the airlines' internal testing procedures.

We are currently not planning to shift the implementation date - based on the success of the acceptance and pilot tests, the go-live date as published on the website still stands.

Kind regards
