How will the corres ref number be generated?
Hi IATA
Can you provide any detail as to how the unique SIS correspondence reference number will be generated? Will it, for example be generated by random, in simple numeric sequence one after another, or released in blocks depending on the airlines involved?
Thanks,

Hi Matt,
The Correspondence Number format will be XXXXAAAAAAA where XXXX is the 1st Correspondence Initiating Airline Accounting code and AAAAAAA is a running serial number which will be reset to 1 when exhausted.
Best regards

Hi, IATA,
Refer to IS-xml v3.1.1, (line#135), type of 'correspondence ref number' is "N".
We'd like to know if carrier 001 (just for example) initiates the correspondence, with running serial number 1234567, what will be shown on the IS-XML? Is it "00011234567", "0011234567" or "11234567"?
Please clarify.
Thanks Duan Binbin

Hi Duan & IATA
The most logical would be "XXXAAAAAAAA" or "00112345678"
Only three "X"'s in line with each airline's three numeric designator.

Hi Binbin,
The correspondence number in this case will be 11234567. So when the serial number is exhausted it will start with 10000001.

Hi, Ashley,
Thanks for your reply but I don't think you answered my question.
If I get a correspondence with number as '11234567', how do I know it was initiated by airline 001, 011 or 112?
Waiting for your clarification.

Dear Binbin, To further clarify, the correspondence number would be 11234567 if it was initiated by airline 001. It would be 111234567 if it was initiated by airline 011, and, by the same token, be 1121234567 if by airline 112. In general leading zeros are not significant here, hence the above. Hope this helps.
