Line 266 Aircraft Type Name
Hi,
Refer to IS XML Standard V3.1.1;
Line 266 Aircraft Type Name; since IATA code is used, does it has different name/description with the commercial/ commonly used description?
Is it acceptable if the description e.g. Airbus A318 (where A318 is ICAO/commercially used code)

Dear Azuan,
Yes, it is acceptable. This field is informational and is not checked in the validation. Aircraft Type Code, on the other hand, is checked in the validation for a valid code.
Best regards

Dear Ashley,
With respect to your answer on the Aircraft Type Code, we found that not all aircraft has Aircraft Type Code ICAO.
What if the Charge Category/Charge Code require Aircraft Type Code ICAO as mandatory, eg. Engineering/Handling LM?
Can we use IATA Aircraft Type instead?
Regards,
Azuan

Hi Azuan,
To answer this question we would like to ask if you can tell us which aircraft type(s) you have found that have Aircraft Type Code in ICAO.
As the ICAO list of aircrafts is almost exhaustive, whereas the IATA list is much more restricted to commercial aircrafts, we do not see how it is possible that an IATA aircraft type is not in the ICAO list.
At any rate, the ICAO code must be used to populate the Aircraft Type Code. As this is a master data information, if this is not in the list the invoice will fail validation.
Kind regards,
Ashley |

Hi Ashley,
Kindly refer to attached Aircraft Type Code which I bought from IATA Online Store. If you may see, there are few aircraft with value "0" for ICAO code.
Appreciate your advise.
Regards,
Azuan

Hi Azuan, The Aircraft Descriptions with value ‘0’ only define the family of aircrafts below it. So you can use the codes directly below these for the specific aircraft type – please see an extract from the zip file you attached as example. Airbus Industrie A318 / A319 / A320 / A321 32S 0 Airbus Industrie A318 31832S2JA3180 Airbus Industrie A319 31932S2JA3190 Airbus Industrie A320 32032S2JA3200 Airbus Industrie A320 (sharklets) 32A32S2JA3201 Airbus Industrie A321 32132S2JA3210 Airbus Industrie A321 (sharklets) 32B32S2JA3211 Airbus Industrie A320 Freighter 32F32F2JA3201 Airbus Industrie A321 Freighter 32X32X2JA3211 Airbus Industrie A330 330 0 Airbus Industrie A330-200 3323302JA3320 Airbus Industrie A330-300 3333302JA3330 Airbus Industrie A330 Freighter 33F 0 Airbus Industrie A330-200 Freighter 33X33F2JA3320 Hope that helps?
