New ISPG version - applicable when?

Hi IATA.

I saw in some other posts that there will be a new ISPG version in February 2012. I assume this ISPG will include changes for Pax and Misc as well. This triggers the following question:
This ISPG will certainly not be valid/applicable/mandatory right away as all carriers and service providers will need to make program adjustments for potential changes listed in the ISPG for Pax and Misc.
So when will this new ISPG be mandatory? Will there be a hard cut from ISPG 3.2 to the next or will IATA accept IS-IDECs for version 3.2 and the next version in parallel for a certain time? The format itself is included in the file header, so a parallel processing would be possible at least from a technical perspective.
Please advise about your plans in this regard.

Thanks

Hi Claudia,

The new ISPG will be providing corrections to the current version and there are no changes that affect the PAX/MISC record structures.

This version will be providing updates to the Cargo functionalities, and the Cargo IS-IDEC record structure version will also be changed from 3.1 to 3.2.

The next time this changes will be in January 2013, as this will be voted in September 2012 at the SIS general meeting. So the full industry will have 5 months to comply with the upcoming updates, but this will be a hard cut-over as files with the older spec will not be processed.

Hope this clarifies.

Regards,

Ashley
