Currency Adjustment Indicator

Dear sirs,

According to the Glossary C50 of the ISPG, the currency adjustment indicator is a three character code which indicates the currency represented in transaction as defined in IATA Resolution 024d, we find that there are some countries do not use the local currency as the passenger fare and excess baggage charge, instead they may use either USD or EUR. Would you please advise if a country for example Brazil who file the currency BRL in 024d, we cannot use USD as the currency adjustment indicator even Brazil use USD as the currency of passenger fare and excess baggage charge.

Thank you very much.

Dear Kin Wong,

SIS Validations only check the Currency Adjustment Indicator field for the following;

1.     The currency code (i.e. USD) is a valid one.

2.     The field is not blank if the Billing Code field is = 0

SIS will allow the use of any valid currency code, but the resolution itself mayhave guidelines on what to use by country.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Ashley
