What is the difference between self-study and e-learning?

Self-study courses require the students to study on their own with a book, eBook, or a CD, and then go to a physical location to take an examination. E-learning courses can be done entirely online, including exams.


I enrolled online, how come I haven’t heard back from IATA?

If you have applied online but have not yet received the study materials within three weeks, please send us an email to as it is quite possible there was a problem with your payment or mailing address. Please note that we require your confirmation number that you received upon submitting your online enrolment form.

How long is the validity period for my course enrolment?

The validity period for all Distance Learning courses except Dangerous Goods Regulations is six (6) consecutive examination sessions from your first eligible exam session.

The validity period for Dangerous Goods Regulations is four (4) consecutive exam sessions from your first eligible exam session.

When is the enrolment deadline?

Can I pay by installment?

No, payment has to be done in full through the online enrolment.

Can I request for a refund?

No. According to our terms and conditions, full or partial refund of enrolment fees is not possible at any time.

What are the acceptable methods of payment?

The individual student enrolment can be paid by credit card or bank transfer.

My address has changed. How can I communicate my new address to ITDI?

If you have changed your address, please update your address on your student account.

Will my course materials be sent to my new address if I change the address on my student account after the order is placed?

No. Changes to your address will only be accepted / effective for orders placed after the address change. The study materials purchased before the address change will NOT be delivered to your new address. It is your responsibility to manage to obtain the materials delivered to your old address.

When and how can I download my eBook after enrollment?

Once your order is paid, you should download the eBook as soon as possible by logging on your student user account. Click on "My Bookings" and then on "Start".

After you pass the exam or your course enrolment validity expires, the eBook or any other files or links that are associated with your course enrolment will no longer be available on your user account for download.

Is my eBook pdf file compatible with iPad, Kindle, and other electronic reading devices?

Yes, your eBook is compatible with those products.

When and where will my exam take place?

Your Local Coordinator will contact you two to three weeks prior to the examination to inform you of the exact date, time, and location of your exam via Exam Invitation Letter. If you have not been contacted yet by this time, we advise you to contact us immediately at

How can I contact my Local Coordinator?

Your Local Coordinator’s contact information is indicated on the examination booking confirmation email you received. Their contact information can also be found on your online student account, on the exam booking detail page of your course (Click Open Course and then click Status).

Can I change my examination session?

You can change your registered exam session to a later date within the enrolment period, as long as it is done before the exam registration deadline. Under no circumstance will any excuse (including medical, professional, and legal excuses) be accepted once the deadline has passed.

Can I take a practice exam to prepare myself for the final examination?

A free online practice exam is now available for the Foundation in Travel and Tourism course (in English or in French version only) and the Air Transport Fundamentals course (only for students who enrolled on August 21, 2015 and onward). If you are enrolled in one of these courses, you will be able to access the corresponding practice exam for an unlimited number of times through your User Account until course completion or course expiry (whichever comes first). Can I change my examination location?

Yes, you can change your exam location to another exam venue no later than your exam registration deadline.

What do I need to bring to the exam center? What is permitted and what is not?

Your exam invitation letter includes details of what you must and can bring to the exam center.

I have passed my IATA exam. When will I receive my diploma/certificate?

The diploma/certificate will be dispatched to your Local Coordinator or Authorized Training Center 4 - 6 weeks after the exam result release date, as indicated on the Exam Calendar.

Exams for eLearning courses are taken online and the certificate is provided online for download and printing in pdf format. No additional certificates are provided.

Can I request to have my exam reevaluated?

Yes, you can request to reevaluate an exam taken in the last six months. Please provide the following details with your request:

  • Your full name
  • Student ID
  • Booking ID
  • Course name
  • Date of the exam you attended

I failed my first exam attempt. How and when will I be registered for the second exam attempt?

If you wish to take your second exam attempt, you are required to register through your online student account no later than the registration deadline for the exam session you wish to attend. Please be sure to register for your second exam attempt before the enrollment period expires.

What are my options, if I failed or could not take my second exam attempt?

IATA has opened the opportunity for you to enroll at our website for the Third Exam Attempt (except DGR course exam) within one year of having failed the second exam attempt.

How can I get my exam results?

Our system will send you your exam result by email by the exam result release date. You are also able to see it on your online student account.

Can I obtain a letter of attestation?

Yes, you can obtain a letter of attestation for a course you completed in the last five years.

Please provide the following details with your request:

  • Your full name
  • Student ID
  • Course name and edition
  • Date of the exam you attended
