International Airline Training Fund (IATF)
The International Airline Training Fund (IATF) is a non-profit foundation that provides training support to airlines in developing nations to increase their competitiveness and meet industry challenges.
IATF is funded by donations from IATA members and other organizations involved in the air transport industry.
Who can benefit from IATF?
IATA members in developing nations can benefit from the IATF programs. While training opportunities are offered in most areas of the airline business, priority is given to any training aimed at enhancing the airline's operational safety.
- For the Regional Training Program, priority is given to airlines that have identified skill gaps through a formal training needs assessment
- For the Collective Scholarship Program, priority is given to staff who are involved in knowledge transfer activities
IATF Programs and Procedures
Collective Scholarships Program
Scholarships are awarded for courses taking place at any IATA Training Center. Members may apply unlimited times for this program.
Scholarship opportunities are advertised at short notice, and cover tuition fees only. The airline is expected to support the applicant with his/her air travel, accommodation, and meals.
To be notified of when a course is available under this program, Training and Staff Development Managers are encouraged to send their contact details to the IATF Manager.
Regional Training Program
Based on the results of a training needs assessment, IATF arranges relevant training to be conducted at the premises of the airline.
Personnel from other carriers in the region may also attend if the hosting airline cannot use all offered seats (usually a maximum of 25).
To explore opportunities under this program, Training and Staff Development Managers are encouraged to contact the IATF Manager.
