Cargo Warehouse Operations (Classroom, 4 days)

Gain the skills and knowledge you need to work in air cargo warehouse operations. Study best practices in cargo operations, procedures, documentation and cargo handling. Learn about ULD handling and loading techniques, and how to work safely in a warehouse environment. During the last two days of the course you will work in a warehouse and gain hands-on experience of air cargo operations.

What you will learn

Upon completing this course you will be able to:

  • Understand the basics of warehouse safety and emergency procedures
  • Apply warehouse processes
  • Handle ULD’s safely and efficiently
  • Evaluate multiple competitive strategies in the air cargo market
  • Safely build and breakdown different types of ULD

Course content

  • Basic cargo security and aircraft loading
  • Basic warehouse safety and emergency procedures
  • Warehouse processes
  • Recognize and identify dangerous goods
  • Identify aircraft types and characteristics
  • Principles of ULD handling
  • Cargo and mail handling according to AHM
  • Lashing and tie-down requirements to secure loads
  • Handling and storage requirements for special cargo
  • Lean principles

Activities: Participants will take part in the following group work at the warehouse

  • ULD build-up and breakdown
  • Review of basic warehouse safety
  • 6s event (lean principles)

Certificate awarded

An IATA Certificate of Completion is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 70% or higher on all exercises and exams. A special distinction is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 90% or higher.
