This course is designed for ramp and warehouse personnel to gain relevant knowledge and understanding of dangerous goods, their potential hazards, and the procedures applicable to their transport by air.

What you will learn

Upon completing this course you will be able to:

  • Use IATA’s Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) manual and complete the necessary dangerous good Notification to Captain (NOTOC) document
  • Apply regulations to identify classes, marking and labelling applicable to dangerous goods shipments
  • Apply dangerous goods emergency response procedures
  • Understand the origins of the current regulations

  • Responsibilities of shippers and operators
  • Limitations including dangerous goods allowed in passenger baggage, State and operator variations
  • Marking and labelling of dangerous goods
  • Loading, storage and inspection, emergency procedures

Note: This Dangerous Goods Awareness course meets the training requirements for personnel listed in categories 5 and 8 as per Table 1.5.A of the IATA DGR.

Certificate awarded

An IATA Certificate of Completion is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 80% or higher on all exercises and exams. A special distinction is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 90% or higher.
