About

Safety is your responsibility! Have the appropriate safety precautions been taken by your company? 

This course will improve your awareness of the legal requirements, operational restrictions, packaging instructions, marking, labeling and documentation regulations related to the transport of dangerous goods. Gain the skills to accept, handle and process shipments containing dangerous goods according to the current edition of the mandatory IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations manual.

Course format: This course is available at IATA Training Centers, training partner locations and on-demand as in-company training. This course provides 40 hours of instruction delivered by an official IATA Instructor.

What you will learn

Upon completing this course you will have the skills to:

  • Apply IATA’s DGR manual and complete dangerous goods transport documents correctly
  • Apply regulations to identify, pack, mark, label and document dangerous goods
  • Perform the responsibilities involved in accepting, storing, loading and inspecting dangerous goods
  • Understand the legal responsibilities involved with the transport of dangerous goods

  • Shipping radioactive materials
  • Procedures
    • Loading, storage and inspection
    • Emergency procedures
  • Air waybill, Shipper’s Declaration for Dangerous Goods, and Notification to Captain

Please come prepared with the following materials:

  • DGR Manual: A key reference tool, this manual is on loan to each participant for the duration of the course.
  • Calculator: This course involves calculation exercises requiring the use of a calculator.

Certificate awarded

An IATA Certificate of Completion is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 80% or higher on all exercises and exams. A special distinction is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 90% or higher.
