Make your airport ‘greener’ by continuing on the path to sustainable aviation. Concentrate on the management of noise, local air quality, land use planning, water and waste management, biodiversity preservation, community relationship management, major risk prevention and Environment Management System (EMS) implementation.

What you will learn

  • Identify key factors in the ‘green airport concept’ 
  • Address specific environmental challenges within your organisation 
  • Contribute to the timely implementation of measures to control and reduce noise, local air quality, waste and water pollution, major risk prevention 
  • Improve land-use management and airport operational procedures 
  • Enhance airport contribution to industry efforts against global warming 
  • Develop evaluation methods for proper environmental assessment 
  • Implement environmental management systems (such as ISO 14001) 
  • Update communication messages and tools

  • Toward airport sustainable development
  • Social, economic and environmental balance
  • Regulatory and institutional framework
  • Noise and local air quality issues: fleet renewal, local procedures, housing insulation, environmental charges etc.
  • Land-use planning and management
  • Airport carbon accreditation program (toward carbon neutrality)
  • Energy savings, water and waste management, de-icing, major risk prevention and biodiversity preservation
  • Ground access to airport and seamless intermodal transfers
  • Implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS)
  • Relationships with local communities and neighbors
  • Communication messages and tools, including handling crisis communications and using new social media

Certificate awarded

An IATA Certificate of Completion is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 70% or higher. A special distinction is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 90% or higher.
