About

This course, developed by McGill University's School of Continuing Studies, fulfills the requirement of 35 hours of formal training in order to be eligible for the Project Management Professional (PMP)® or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® exams and will prepare participants to successfully pass the exams.


What you will learn

Upon completing this course you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of project management principles and concepts as outlined in 'A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge', (PMBOK® Guide), 5th edition
  • Articulate the key role, responsibilities and skills required of a successful Project Manager
  • Apply practical tools and templates that enable these principles to practice, on current and future projects
  • Anticipate and manage some of the common situations and challenges that project managers face
  • Meet project management educational requirements to be eligible to apply for the Project Management Professional (PMP)® or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® credentials
  • Prepare to write the certification exam for Project Management Professional (PMP)® or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® credentials

Course format

  • This self-study eLearning course requires approximately 35 hours of study, to be completed within 6 months.
  • Student performance will be based on results of the a quiz at the end of each module. Please refer to the Performance Assessment information below for more details.

Certificate awarded

Upon successful completion of the exam, you will be awarded an IATA-McGill University's School of Continuing Studies e-Certificate available for you to print for your records, indicating that you have earned 35 Contact Hours of formal project management education required to be eligible to apply for the Project Management Professional (PMP) ® or Certified Associate Project Management (CAPM)® certification exams.

Performance Assessment

  • Performance Assessment Method: Complete a quiz at the end of each module
  • Number of questions: 10 - 15
  • Passing Grade: 65% correct answers
  • Final grade: Based on the results of the individual module quizzes.

At the end of the course, you will have access to the PMP® practice exam for a period of 90 days from the day you access it for the first time.
