From January 2012, emissions for flights in European Union (EU) airspace will be included in the European Union’s Emissions Trading Scheme.

• Be well prepared for the commencement of the European Union (EU( Emissions Trading Scheme) ETS prior to commencing the verification (audit) process
• Be familiar with the aviation industry, operating procedures, safety standards and the on-board and ground systems involved in aviation fuel and load planning, handling and usage
• Help minimise the potential for health safety incidents and provide verifiers with a “working knowledge” of the industry (as required by EA-6/03)

• Emissions verifiers for the European Union (EU) Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS)
• Financial staff, including controllers, treasury officers and accountants
• Those interested in gaining knowledge about the practical issues involved for airlines and emissions verifiers due to the European Union ETS legislation

• The objective of Zero Emissions: Regulatory environment: National, Regional and International Civil Aviation Authorities
• Jet aircraft characteristics and how airlines are organized
• Understanding fuel: aviation fuel types; fuel management systems; aircraft fuel systems, ground fuel systems; fuel planning parameters and regulatory requirements
• Understanding tonne-kilometre data; aircraft weight and balance; biofuels; IATA XML standards for electronic invoicing; a standard for fuel suppliers to invoice airlines
• Airline quality systems; IATA’s role; IOSA; ISAGO; fuel and load data transfer within the airline; preparing the visit to the airport; ramp safety

An IATA Certificate of Completion is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 70% or higher on all exercises and exams. A special distinction is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 90% or higher.
