Airline & Aircraft Operations

Operational Cost Reduction Initiative (OCRI)

Operational costs are a critical part of airline management, especially in the current economic environment.

Total annual airline operational costs are expected to amount to approximately US$464 billion (2009), while fuel will represent 25% (US$116 billion). For 5 years now, significant fuel potential savings have been identified by the IATA Green Teams.

To identify more saving potentials, OCRI focusses on 4 major areas of operations:

  • Asset Management
  • Flight Operations
  • Technical Operations
  • Ground Operations

OCRI provides several service elements:

  • IATA Guidance Material
  • Training Courses
  • Checklists and  scorecards
  • On-site assessments (GO Teams)
  • Remote support (benchmark data, website, telephone conference, etc.)

Operational Cost Reduction Assessments (OCRA)

IATA GO Teams perform Operational Cost Reduction Assessments (OCRA) to identify operational cost reduction potentials and support airlines in their implementation.

These assessments can be customized by airlines to match their individual needs and address specific operational functions within the areas above-mentioned.
