In its activities related to air traffic management and airport strategy infrastructure, IATA seeks to establish and maintain a global plan that addresses high level, long-term strategy and near-term issues, as well as harmonized regional development.

IATA interfaces with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and participates on ICAO technical panels that deal with communications, navigation, surveillance, air traffic management and related infrastructure issues. IATA also has cooperates with  the Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO), the Air Transport Action Group (ATAG) and supports activity in the RTCA, EUROCAE, Airlines Electronic Engineering Committee (AEEC) and other organizations.
