e-Air Waybill (e-AWB)
Developed collaboratively with industry stakeholders, the new e-Air Waybill (e-AWB) removes the requirement for a paper Air Waybill (AWB), significantly simplifying the air freight supply chain process. With the e-AWB, there is no longer a need to print, handle or archive paper AWBs.
There is an agreed e-AWB standard in place (Recommended Practice 1670 “Model Agreement for EDI”) that has been endorsed by FIATA and adopted by the IATA Cargo Services Conference (CSC).
Airlines and freight forwarders are now implementing the e-AWB and the road to 100% e-AWB was endorsed as follows:
- 15% e-AWB by end of 2012
- 70% e-AWB by end of 2013
- 100% e-AWB by end of 2014
