IATA ULD Operational Guidelines

The IATA ULD Operational Guidelines reflect the recommendations from the IATA ULD Operational Advisory Group (ULDOAG). The ULDOAG was formed in August 2010 consisting of more than 50 ULD operational experts throughout the supply chain, including airlines, ground handlers, freight forwarders, cargo terminal operators, truckers, ULD OEMs, ULD service providers, and aircraft manufacturers, etc. The main objective of the ULDOAG is to provide recommendations to the IATA ULD Panel (ULDP) on the IATA industry standards, resolutions, recommended practices, and training that are related to ULD operations.

It is believed that these guidelines are the first ever global ULD operational guidelines across the entire ULD operational chain, i.e. these guidelines should be applicable to any ULD operator, airline and non-airline, at any part of the operational chain. This is a live document subject to continuous review and updates. Any comments or suggestions should be addressed to the Manager, Cargo Business Process & Standards at uld@iata.org.
