IATA Cargo News for the air cargo industry
Despite the dramatic downturn in the cargo business IATA CASS collection success continues at extremely high levels, exceeding 99.8 %. The CASS network continues to grow with 88 CASS operations, including 78 export, 6 import, and 4 domestic. During the remainder of 2009, we will focus on launching at least four more CASS Import operations with a overall goal of reaching 100 CASS operations. Following a challenge made during the 2009 World Cargo Symposium a number of projects have been launched looking at distribution opportunities and the overall cargo sales / booking / settlement cycle. The CASS stock management solution which provides a fully automated online Air Waybill (AWB) number request and allocation solution has now been activated in 15 countries with over 80 airlines. In October, automated corrections will be implemented on CASSLink, the global CASS technology platform. In addition, a series of new features will be introduced on all CASS participants to accelerate and simplify the CASS billing query and resolution process. In January 2010, Simplified CASS charging will be launched. The new system will establish a global CASS unit charge, avoiding the confusion caused by today's variable local management fee, central and regional charges as well as data processing fees. The simplified CASS charging will be invoiced to head office locations and would detail exact volumes by each CASS participated in. We want to know if there is more we can do for you in the area of CASS. Please email all ideas to cass@iata.org
