World Cargo Symposium 2011 Roundup: Highlights, Priorities, and Commitments

Over 1000 key decision makers from the air cargo supply chain participated in the 5th World Cargo Symposium held in Istanbul, Turkey during 8-10 March. This included representatives from airlines, forwarders, ground handlers, sales agents, customs, airports, shippers, and IT solution providers - a much more diverse attendance than ever before!

2011 Industry Priorities

The live polling system, introduced for the first time at the Opening Plenary, enabled real-time interaction with participants. Attendees identified the following priorities which will be the focus for the industry in 2011:

  • Safety and Security
  • e-Cargo
  • Industry collaboration
  • Customs Facilitation
  • Airfreight sustainability: Training, Investments, Quality, Environment

 

2011 Commitments

What makes the World Cargo Symposium the air cargo industry event with a difference is moving from talk to action! IATA's commitment is to work with the air cargo industry in delivering on the actions agreed and in reporting back during the next World Cargo Symposium in 2012.
