IATA Settlement Systems (ISS)

The worldwide network of IATA Settlement Systems, spanning over 140 countries and territories, provide cost-effective settlement services to airline, agent and third-party customers. They include the Billing and Settlement Plans (BSP), and the Cargo Accounts Settlement System (CASS) on the cargo side, offering:  

• Standardised procedures and outputs
• Automated data flows and information exchange
• Reduced distribution and settlement costs
• System neutrality between airlines and agents

In 2007, the IATA Settlement Systems processed sales amounting to over USD 240 billion to airlines through:

• Billing and Settlement Plans (BSP):  at the close of 2006, there were 84 BSPs, covering 165 countries and territories serving  400 airlines. Gross sales processed in 2007 amounted to USD 220 billion (an increase of 17% from 2006). 
• IATA BSP Consolidator System (IBCS): an alternative for airlines in marginal markets
• Cargo Accounts Settlement System (CASS): 59 CASS offices, covering 72 countries, served over 300 airlines and settled nearly USD 23 billion (up 15% from 2006).
