Baggage Standards.jpg

The latest edition of the IATA Baggage Reference manual contains all baggage related Resolutions and Recommended Practices (RP) that IATA publishes for baggage handling processes and baggage prorates.

Industry standards that address all aspects of baggage operations allow airlines to work seamlessly with each other and with other stakeholders such as ground handling partners, solutions providers, airports, and governments. Standards reduce cost, encourage innovation, and provide a better experience for passengers.

Baggage Reference Manual (BRM)

The Baggage Reference Manual (BRM) is the definitive industry guide for achieving excellence in baggage operations. Developed to support ground operations staff, handling agents, baggage claim and proration experts, and operational managers, the BRM consolidates the latest globally accepted best practices.

Passenger and baggage standards are developed and adopted under the IATA Traffic Conferences, where all IATA’s members can participate and vote. Baggage Resolutions adopted by Conferences act as an agreement between all IATA member airlines and are binding on them.

The baggage related Resolutions and RPs are listed below:
