STEADES Supports Safety Management Systems

Since the beginning of 2009, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has required that all airlines have a Safety Management System.  ICAO now requires operators to develop and monitor Safety Performance Indicators and to establish Safety Performance Targets. The IATA Safety Trend Evaluation, Analysis & Data Exchange System (STEADES) can help with this task by enabling airlines to monitor and compare their own performance by comparing it with global and regional averages.

Recently, STEADES published an analysis on safety issues related to Noise Abatement Procedures. To benefit from this analysis, subscribe to STEADES.

IATA Moves from Quality Control to Quality Assurance

In an effort to improve the IATA Operational Safety Audit ( IOSA)  program, including audit conduct and IOSA report production, IATA is moving from a quality control environment to a quality assurance environment.

One of the new initiatives arising from quality assurance included IATA hosting a week-long training session for designated Quality Control Managers of the eight accredited audit organizations.

This training session was developed to increase auditor performance and improve the quality and consistency of the IOSA Audit Report.

IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations Audits Update

By the end of July, 20 ISAGO audits were conducted in every region of the globe. In addition, several airlines providing third party ground services such as CSA Czech Airlines, Air Namibia and Kenya Airways, have chosen to undergo the corporate element of ISAGO at the same time as their IOSA renewal audit, thereby saving time and resources.  In total, 35 ISAGO audits have been conducted so far in 2009 (19 headquarters audits and 16 station audits).

ISAGO Registry

At the beginning of August, a total of 17 Providers were already on the ISAGO Registry at 18 different locations.
