OPC Agree to Complete a Fuel Efficiency Gap Analysis  (FEGA)

Although several members have already participated in a FEGA, at the OPC 20, all members agreed to complete a FEGA. 

Green Team Update

The Green Teams have reached savings of 8 million tonnes of CO2 as of 31 October 2009.

The enhanced Green Team support updates:

  • Regional Workshops conducted in Geneva, Beijing, Miami and Amman with another two workshops scheduled for Johannesburg and Singapore
  • Benchmark Report launched and posted on the IEMS private site
  • ETS/MRV: Fuel Efficiency Gap Analysis to include the ETS approach. MRV gap assessment developed to help members with their reporting and monitoring programs
  • Remote support provided through conference calls, webinars, information bulletins and a new website with FAQ

Cost Reduction Initiatives

IATA Operational Cost Reduction Initiative (OCRI)

OCRI supports airlines in their cost reduction efforts with focus on the following operational areas:

  • Technical operations
  • Flight operations
  • Ground operations

OCRI Recent Achievements

The Go Teams are currently working with 25 airlines on cost reduction measures. A total savings of US $701 million was identified, mainly for technical operations.

Alternative Fuels Report

The IATA 2009 Report on Alternative Fuels will be launched at the Board of Governors meeting in December. A summary (pdf) of the report is available.
