Passenger Innovation Awards 2014

The Passenger Innovation Awards is an initiative that aims to ignite new ideas in the passenger world.

The ideas should meet at least one of the following objectives:

  • Improve passenger experience - anywhere in the process from shopping to travel, including ground experience
  • Reduce or drive improvements to simplify existing processes or decrease costs
  • Create an innovative product or service that falls under the Simplifying the Business (StB) scope and at least one of the five StB goals (pdf).

Winners of the 2014 Awards

1st prize: Butterfly

The Butterfly seating concept is a passenger seat that can instantly transform between premium economy class and a business class flatbed – allowing airlines to shift the cabin configuration in real-time and in response to changing market conditions.

2nd prize: BizTweet

BizTweet empowers airlines, airports (basically any business) to proactively communicate with millions of their passengers by Twitter.

3rd prize : Routehappy

Routehappy Hub and SHF is a platform that enables airlines to create, manage and distribute relevant product content throughout their sales and marketing channels.

The finalists were given a booth in the “Innovation Corner” of the exhibition hall to present their idea and answer questions. The jury panel and event attendees voted on the best idea during the Closing Plenary of WPS 2014.
