Africa Safety and Security Workgroup
In terms of safety and airport infrastructure in Africa, IATA represents the international airline industry in order to promote safe, secure, efficient and economical air transport.
The IATA regional office in Africa manages technical and operational activities for Sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Oceans. It works very closely with the ICAO Regional Offices in Nairobi and Dakar and maintains working relationships with the African Airline Association (AFRAA), Airlines Assocaition of Southern Africa (AASA), the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), regional services providers and authorities.
Current issues include the Safety Improvement Tasks, to bring AFI accident rate to the world average, Regional Planning, Security Strategy, Operations, CNS/ATM Planning and Implementation, Technical Mission Programmes and PBN strategy.
Regional Workshops
As an outcome of the AFI Safety Summit in 2012, Africa had been given a special project aimed in improving safety in Africa. IATA will be holding various workshops for airlines and regulators. For workshop details and registration information, please contact us.
