IATA Ground Operations Manual Task Force (IGOM)

The IGOM Task Force focuses on the global harmonization and standardization of ground handling processes and continually reviews and develops pro​cedures and instructions for frontline personnel as published in the IATA Ground Operations Manual (IGOM).It also interacts with other industry working groups within the scope of Ground Operations to ensure that IGOM is aligned, relevant and updated in all aspects. Through participation in the IGOM there is the opportunity to influence the ground operations industry. In addition, the Task Force provides a unique opportunity for industry experts in their field to meet and network with their peers.


  • Identify strategies for safe aircraft ground handling operations
  • Undertake the continual review, development and improvement of, amongst others, the content of the IATA Airport Handling Manual (AHM) and IATA Ground Operations Manual (IGOM)
  • Interact with other IATA and external bodies to ensure relevant aspects of their work are incorporated into the AHM and IGOM, and visa-versa
  • Assess input originating primarily from the Airside Safety Group and information provided by, amongst others, the Ground Damage Database (GDDB), Ground Safety Information Centre (GSIC) and Safety Management Systems (SMS), and allocate appropriate resources to address the nature of the input

Composition and meetings

The IGOM is open to IATA member airlines, Strategic Partners, Non-IATA airlines, Industry Stakeholders, who are also IGHC members and Strategic Partners in the Ground Operations area of interest. The number of participants is not restricted. The Task Force meets twice a year.
