Latin America and Caribbean Safety and Security Workgroup

The Regional Safety, Operations & Infrastructure (SO&I) Office represents Member airline's interests in operational matters with the responsible authorities in 44 states.  We are responsible for regional activities related to safety, security, operations, ATM and airports infrastructure development.

The SO&I Office works closely with the ICAO North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACC) office in Mexico City and the South American (SAM) office in Lima, Peru in addition to maintaining a working relationship with the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) and the Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO) regional office.  We also maintain working relationships with regional air navigation providers to implement RNAV Routes eliminate outstanding deficiencies and resolve airline operational requests, which lead to improved operational efficiency and enhanced safety and security.

Priorities

IATA's priorities in terms of safety and security in the region are:

• The development and promotion of policies and practices to ensure safe and effective operation of aircraft
• The promotion of IATA safety activities and initiatives
• The improvement of ATS Route network
• Attending to Airlines Operational Requests for the benefit of the region as a whole
