Flight Crew Training Task Force


The IATA Flight Crew Training Task Force (FCTTF) assists the Flight Operations Group (FOG) in addressing flight crew training issues. The FCTTF also indicates how to implement its recommendations in a rational, co-ordinated and cost-effective way. The FOG guides the FCTTF and maintain oversight of its activities, through the approval and review of the work programme. The FCTTF can always bring forward to the FOG subjects, not on the work programme, that need immediate attention.

ROLE

The FCTTF develops cost-effective policies, standards, and recommendations for consideration by the FOG relating to:

  • All aspects of flight crew training;
  • Promotion and sharing ongoing awareness of efficient and effective flight crew training
    programmes, procedures and practices;
  • Awareness of the economic and operational impact to airlines of flight crew training practices and design philosophies;
  • Collection and dissemination of information related to flight crew training;
  • Promotion of strategic co-operations between all parties involved in flight crew training;
  • Development of industry positions of flight crew issues and best practices;
  • Defining themes, topics and speaker programmes for IATA Conferences on the topic of flight crew training;
  • Developing and promoting IATA policies and procedures, and providing advice and support to IATA-nominated representatives involved in ICAO, regulatory, industry and all other relevant activities;
  • Developing work programmes and supervising associated activities for task forces;
  • Developing programmes for IATA conferences  / seminars/exhibitions/training courses that
    relate to the activities of the FOC;
  • Promoting global harmonisation of flight crew training practices and procedures;
  • Formulating cost-effective policies, standards and recommendations for consideration by
    the FOG which include, but are not limited to:
    • Flight crew training requirements for advanced technology systems;
    • Pilot selection process;
    • Human Factors issues related to flight crew training
