The IATA Monthly Statistics Work Group is responsible for the collection and distribution of monthly international statistics. 3 data collections are currently available:
Monthly International Statistics (MIS):
- This is a comprehensive source of traffic and capacity data. The collection contains over 115 airlines (some non-IATA members), and covers approximately 93% of IATA international scheduled traffic. Available each month, 28 days after the end of the reported month, MIS is the timeliest source of international traffic and capacity statistics by carrier. More on MIS.
- All airlines reporting to the MIS collection receive a copy of the Carrier Tracker Report as well as the data provided by all other participating airlines, including the past 24 months results.
Origin Destination Statistics (ODS) and Route Area Statistics (RAS):
- Origin Destination Statistics and Route Area Statistics are both monthly collections of passenger, freight and mail statistics. More on ODS - More on RAS.
- The data collection operates on the following two principles:
- Confidentiality: the distribution of data is restricted to ODS and RAS participants and airlines have to keep this data confidential at all times.
- Reciprocity: carriers must submit data to receive data.
- The reports are available approximately 6 weeks after the reference month. This data collection allows airlines to obtain competitive intelligence and collect market share for airlines for city and country pairs. It is also a useful analytical report to study the growth rates between cities, countries or regions.
- Participation is open to airlines operating scheduled international services.
