The USA office focuses particular attention on initiatives that impact our members from the Executive Branch departments and agencies, including the Department of Transportation, the Department of Homeland Security (and its sub-agencies; the Transportation Security Administration and the Customs and Border Protection), the Federal Aviation Administration, the Department of State, Department of Justice and other organisations.

Security

Since September 11, 2001, the U.S. Government has reorganized itself in an effort to better meet its security needs, particularly relating to air travel.

One of the primary focus areas for IATA's Washington office is to ensure that Washington decision makers have the benefit of the expertise and perspective of IATA member airlines on the most effective and efficient ways to address their underlying aviation security concerns.

IATA's Washington office brings the full resources of IATA to the Executive and Legislative Branches of the U.S. Government in this regard as a trusted partner in this shared effort to increase aviation security without unnecessarily impacting the efficiencies of the existing aviation system.
